Vans Versa Navy/Cream & Black/Black

Some new colors of the Versa have recently popped up at your local Vans retailer.  Shown here in a Navy/Cream colorway in a suede material, and a Black/Black colorway in a premium leather.  That Navy pair is looking pretty good!  These are now available on Eastbay.

Vans Halloween Pack 2010

Halloween is just around the corner, and Vans Japan has released two shoes for the upcoming holiday.  A Sk8-Hi, and a V204.  Both are constructed in a black suede, with silver snake scale patterned material on the side panels.  The central focus of the theme is the jack-o-lantern on the tongue of each shoe.  One other unique feature is the stuffed ankle collar,  done in a sweater fabric.  These are a Japan only release, and are available at ABC Mart.

Pickups: DJ Guamstyles’ Sample Syndicate Olson V-79 “S”

The Vans info has been a little slow lately, so you know what that means! Time for another feature on an OTWS fam’s recent pickup. This week, it’s something that I came across recently.  I’ve seen them before, but never paid much attention to them.  They’re a sample pair of Syndicate V-79 “S” shoes, which was part of the Steve Olson pack from the 008 Syndicate series. This pair is not very well known, but it should’ve been released if you ask me. It has a black and gray checkerboard pattern, that is covered in a nylon mesh netting, so that you can still make out the said pattern. These have a black toecap, compared to the white that was on the released version, and there is a snakeskin strip on the heel, in the same material found on the HUF snakeskin Chukka. These are unreleased samples, which means they are indeed a rare find! What do you think of these? Should Vans have released this pair alongside the others in the Olson series?

Vans California Mid Skool 77 “Hiker”

Here’s a new preview of an upcoming release from the California collection, known as the “Hiker”.  They’ve chosen a Mid Skool as the base template, and turned it into a hiking boot, with standard D-eyelets, round leather laces, and reversed waffle pattern for the soles.  These are constructed of a high quality suede, and are seen here with a double-wide color-coordinated foxing stripe.  What do you think?

Vans Vault Era LX DRI-technology (Review)

I recently picked up a few new Vault releases that haven’t had a lot of attention, but I feel they deserve it.  One release in particular, being the Era LX with DRI technology.  A scotchguard material designed to wicke moisture away, and keep dry.  Being that we’re coming up on Winter, these are a great choice for your seasonal lineup.  Notice the smooth suede that was utilized in these.  Top-notch.  The colorways seen here are looking clean as well, in a gray tone that has been given the name “Sedona Sage”, as well as a black colorway, without a fancy name.  Just “black”.  The inside is lined with the DRI material, for the entire padded insole, tongue-backing, and rear portion of the shoe.  The collar is done up in a soft black suede, so you don’t get a blister when you wear your no-show socks.  Fitment is true to size, to slightly loose.  Two laces are provided, and I’ve taken pics of different combinations for you all, including swapping between the sets that originally came with them.  I personally think the purple goes well with the gray, and the black on black, with slight blue accents in them.  Follow the jump for more pics!

Footage (thecoolshoeshine) reopens in new location!

The good homie Rainier has had a great year for his sneaker consignment store “Footage” in Brea, and now he has relocated to a larger location, in downtown Fullerton, as a result.  I know you’re probably wondering what is this doing on here, but a large portion of sneaker collectors, like some of you, have either bought or sold something from him off eBay, or at his shop.  He is a supporter of OTWS, and is a personal friend of mine, so that’s that.  Stop by if you find yourself coming to the OC anytime, or for you out of towners, if you are making a Disneyland trip, then just head north on Harbor Blvd for about 15 minutes, to his shop!  You can also purchase the shoes on the web shop at coolshoeshine.com.

Shoutout to Shoewolf for the exclusive first pics!

Vans x Seven For All Mankind Old Skool (Sample)

Also acquired through eBay, like the Authentics recently posted, these appear to be from the same collaboration with premium jean maker Seven For All Mankind.  These however, don’t appear to be utilizing the snowboard pants material, like the Authentics, but instead opted to go the premium route.  Materials include, their signature denim, premium light beige premium leather, with color matching vulcanized soles, and with a soft perforated leather lining.  Color-matched premium leather that is perforated with the Seven For All Mankind jean pocket logo was used on the toecap and heel, and were finished off with the same padded insole as the other pair.  These are available for purchase on the OTWS web shop, in a mens size 7, and 8.  Follow the jump for more pics as well!

Vans x Seven For All Mankind Authentic (Sample)

Seen here are a pair of pretty interesting samples that I recently acquired through eBay.  It appears to be either a scratched release, or a promotional item.  The tongue backs have the “Sample not for resale” message blacked out with a marker.  So far, what we know, is that Vans and Seven For All Mankind had released a pair of snowboard pants, appearing as a denim jean, but in a waterproof synthetic material.  These samples look to be made up of the same material for the entire shoe.  Notice the tongue’s Seven For All Mankind jean pocket logo.  The shoe is finished off with metal eyelets, and a plaid lining, while the insole is screen printed with both companies’ logos.  There is no info available online for these shoes, so if there is something that any of you can share about these, then I will gladly update this.  Thanks!

Vans OTW: Asia Launch Party (Hypebeast exclusive interview)

Hypebeast recently had the chance to interview the official “OTW fam”, the advocates chosen by Vans, to spearhead the OTW line.  Recently they went to Kin, in Shanghai, to launch the Holiday 2010 line.  The Vans OTW Asia party included a select few locals to take in the various visual pieces created by the now-four Advocates.  This included newly added advocate for OTW, but not new to Vans (see Syndicate), Mister Cartoon and a live mural session, photography from The Blackouts, a large-scale 21 print sets by Eric Elms, and motorcycle-based photography from Dimitri Coste based on his father’s racing pedigree.  Read more on the entire feature here.
